Dumpster Diving for Treasure
Does anyone else think this has been an odd month so far in the market? For me personally, this is more of an environment where I’m not doing much, just scouting for setups and letting my current positions work. I came into August pretty cautious, with reasons listed here. With that being said the Nasdaq 100, S&P 500, and Dow Jones Industrial Average all just made new all-time highs on a weekly closing basis. New highs aren’t bearish, but I still need to have a game plan prepared in case things change. So I’m looking for areas of potential rotation, which leads me to the worst sectors year-to-date: $XLE ( ▲ 0.53% ) $XLV ( ▲ 1.14% ) $XLRE ( ▲ 0.41% ) . Among the trash I want to find the best looking names, and keep them in my back pocket.
Energy (-1.27% YTD)
Health Care (-1.02% YTD)
Real Estate (+2.58% YTD)
Conclusion
Out of the worst sectors this year, these are the stocks that are the most appealing to me. If we enter an environment where defensive areas start to catch rotation, I think these names will be some of the best winners. Feel free to reach out if you have any names or ideas, I’d love to hear it! As always, thanks for reading and blessings to all!
